Young buyers who have snared a contemporary family home within sight of the Barwon River bank have already been researching local schools.
The buyers, who on Saturday bid $1.79m to secure the four-bedroom house at 4 Ardlui Dr, said they’ve already done a few school tours in the area.
Their daughter is due to start kinder next year, but the buyers have been impressed with Fyans Park Primary School, which is at the other end of the street.
Three groups competed at the auction for the modern, two-storey home.
Buxton agent Ben Riddle said it was nearly the complete package.
“You’ve got multiple bathrooms, huge bedrooms and multiple living spaces and a huge backyard,” he said.
“Subject to council approval you can drop the pool at the back and you’ve pretty much got the package.”
Mr Riddle kicked off the auction with a $1.65m vendor bid before two groups took it away from $1.66m.
It appeared as the first bidder had secured the property at $1.757m when the third buyer entered the fray.
The buyer’s strategy of bigger bids eventually wore out the underbidder.
The buyers said they were searching for a bigger home for their growing family.
“We already live in Geelong, we love Geelong and we need a bigger home,” he said.
“It’s a bigger house, a nice location and a nice school at Fyans Park.
“We did a few school tours in the past couple of months and we really liked it.”
The property enjoys as good as river frontage at the bottom end of Ardlui Dr.
The 677sq m property allows for generous spaces indoors and out behind the striking modern facade.
Downstairs, a long central hallway leads past a home office and theatre room to the main kitchen, dining and loungeroom.
Stack sliding doors reveal a covered deck that squares off the dwelling at the rear, overlooking a spacious yard beyond with plenty space for game equipment and a garden.
A third living space upstairs provides perhaps a play area for the kids amid all the bedrooms.
The huge main bedroom is at the front of the house with a walk-in wardrobe and ensuite, while two of the three other bedrooms have direct access to bathrooms.
The rear bedrooms open to a balcony.
