California Bungalow home, totally restored and extended, up for grabs in bustling Brunswick

The extensive restoration of a heritage home in Brunswick, which required literally every part of the dwelling to be re-built, is creating a buzz among would-be homebuyers.

High-end builder Amron Developments oversaw the works at 36 Fourth Avenue, bringing to life the vision of vendors Charlotte Davidson and James Pridgeon.

As well as a full restoration, a rear extension added a huge open-plan living, dining and kitchen space. Picture:

The couple, who own and operate Steel Window Design, wanted to retain the elegant period details and features of the California Bungalow home while introducing a more contemporary look and feel, and extra space.

“We have thoroughly enjoyed restoring this beautiful home and we’ve cherished bringing up our family here,” Ms Davidson said.

“We literally re-built every part of the house, bringing it back to its former glory – plus a few rooms.”

The custom-built windows – a creation of the vendors and their business – are a real show-stopper. Picture:

The home boasts four bedrooms, two bathrooms, multiple entertaining areas, an attic multipurpose room, and study nook.

An extension at the rear added a spacious and light-filled living and dining area, as well as a gourmet chef’s kitchen with every possible modcon included.

Enormous custom-made, warehouse-style steel windows, which run floor-to-ceiling, designed by the couple’s own business, beautifully frame the peaceful garden area and alfresco deck.

The home boasts plenty of room to live and grow. Picture:

“One of my favourite parts of the house is the kitchen,” Ms Davidson said.

The oversized space is a home cook’s dream, with high-end luxury appliances, Carrara marble benchtops and splashback, plus a butler’s pantry with a second dishwasher.

And like almost every other room in the house, the kitchen looks out onto the backyard and garden.

The high-end kitchen is another major feature. Picture:

“I will certainly miss the outlook, an uninterrupted view to the north, and the warmth the sun brings in the colder months,” Ms Davidson said.

“I’ll also miss the evergreen garden that hugs the house, with glimpses out every window.

“That view down the hallway when you first walk in – I love that people don’t know what awaits them.”

The home is packed full of charm. Picture:

Selling agent Andrew De Angelis from Nelson Alexander in Brunswick, who’s marketing the home with Charlie Barham, said interest had been strong from a variety of buyers.

“Its soaring ceilings and timeless contemporary edge makes this a versatile family sanctuary, perfect for retreating or entertaining,” Mr De Angelis said.

The home has a price guide of $2.4 million to $2.6 million and will go to auction on June 18.
