Hills location? Check. Stunning gardens? Check. Tennis court and pool? Check. All that’s really missing in this Crafers West home is you.
James and his family bought the home in 2015, attracted by its idyllic location and sense of tranquillity.
“We had previously lived on the plains in St Peters and North Adelaide and were looking for a change in the Hills, and this property really appealed to us because it’s about as close to Adelaide as you can get while still being in the Hills but when you’re there you can’t see your neighbours,” James says.
“We’re on an acre but it feels like double that, and the garden is just gorgeous. It was really the garden that sold it for us, it’s like living in a park, but yet we can easily walk to Stirling for a coffee. We’re a family of five – we have older three boys now – but when we moved there all five of us there and it has a great amount of space for them and plenty of living areas, and the court and pool were always popular.”
The 1860s home was expanded in the 1950s and was renovated stunningly throughout before James bought it. It is set over two levels and has four bedrooms – two on the upper level and two downstairs. Large living spaces impress on the lower level, including a lounge/retreat, a dining room, a family room and an open-plan kitchen and meals area that opens out to a courtyard. Landscaped grounds surround the home and the property also has a cellar, a tennis court and a swimming pool.
“It’s great for entertaining and that decked area overlooking the court and pool has been brilliant, but there’s also a fantastic little spot outside the kitchen that’s gorgeous, and it’s great to be able to take your coffee and breakfast out there and take in all the birdlife,” James says.
“There’s routinely a koala in the big old gumtree and we we’ve had a kangaroo in the garden on occasion.”
With the family now upgrading to a larger equestrian property, it’s time to say goodbye to let another family love their 24 Rostrevor Rd home.
“We’ve really loved it here and it is hard to leave because that block really does have just such a special feel to it,” James says. “I’ll definitely miss being able to walk into Stirling.”
