A jawdropping off-market sale in North Ward has blitzed the previous record in the sought-after suburb by more than $2.5 million.
Property records show that 48 Victoria St, North Ward, quietly changed hands for a staggering $4.5 million, with the contract settling on May 20.
The sale was secured off-market by Janice Gallagher of Janice Gallagher Real Estate.
Property records show it was sold by Joanne Taylor, owner and designer of Strand Emporium.
Ms Gallagher declined to comment on the buyers and sellers, but said that the new owners were from North Queensland.
“It is a magnificent property in an exclusive location,” she said.
The stunning residence was last on the market back in 2008.
Back then, it was described as “striking and refined with magnificent views”.
That listing said the residence boasted 1200sq m under roof, and was spread over four levels.
“The top floor is an entertainers paradise, with the sophisticated kitchen boasting elite appliances with marble walls and benches,” it said.
There is also an outdoor kitchen with a wood burning pizza oven, electric rotisserie, gas chargrill, ice machine and beer on tap.
It has six bedrooms and bathrooms spread over the second, third and fourth levels, with a luxe parents retreat complete with a lounge and kitchenette on the second level.
Other features include a library with a fireplace, a billiards room, a private cinema, a cigar room, wine cellar and a pool with views.
There is also a lockup garage, guest parking, and all of the comfort and security technology needed.
In terms of price, it is equal second only to a $6 million sale on Stirling Drive, Castle Hill.
That property was also snapped up off-market, and was purchased by 1300 Smiles founder Daryl Holmes in October 2020.
Johnathan Thurston and wife Samantha also bought a seafront house in Rowes Bay for $4.5 million in September last year.
