It sold under the hammer for $912,500.

Gartland, Geelong agent Tom Luxton said the home, which occupies an 865sq m corner block, was more than 100 years old, which was one of its attractions.

High ceilings and decorative plasterwork enrich the interiors, along with leadlight windows and ornate fireplaces.

While the character elements certainly gave this property the edge, Mr Luxton said the garaging, the pool and a fabulous covered outdoor entertainment area gave plenty of options for other hopeful bidders trying to score this home.

“It was the historical factor of the home, it was pretty unique for that pocket,” Mr Luxton said.

“I think this one is over 100 years old, the pool, the outdoor entertaining and lots of garaging – that drew probably half of the bidders to it, whether they were car collectors, or wanted to store caravans.

“I think that was part of the attraction was there is nothing like that particular one in the area,” he said.

“It was a corner block arrangements and the outdoor entertaining area was spectacular. It had an outdoor kitchen and everything, it was quite special.”

Mr Luxton said it also offered a lock-up-and-leave capacity as the pool takes up the main courtyard area.
